When I went to school in Ponitz in the 60s (the last century), our school lunch was in this castle. At that time, this building was not recognizable as a castle.

Renaissance Ponitz Castle
In 1574 the medieval moated castle was replaced by a renaissance building.
The most important owner of the Ponitz Castle was Dr. Wolfgang Conrad von Thumbshirn, who as a diplomat signed the peace treaty to end the 30 Years War on October 14, 1648.
The entire area is well worth seeing and in a very well-kept condition.
