The historic church of St. Walenty bishop and martyr (indulgence 14 II), was built in 1171 as a private castle chapel of Sandywojów. The church built of brick, survived until 1579, when it was not preserved, it fell apart. The great attachment of the people to Saint Valentine means that soon after, Abbot Jakub builds a larch church in this place. The bloch of the church walls and the found painting of St. Valentine painted on a larch board. 1773 watches the church in a new polychrome layout. In the years 1769-1836 it fulfills the role of a parish church intended for Poles. Cassata of the Cistercians (1836) combined with the auction of the church, it is purchased by count. Mielecka. From then on, it fulfills the role of an auxiliary parish church.

During the Nazi occupation, a shoe store was located in the church. The church was renovated externally in 1964 thanks to the efforts of Father Władysław Sypniewski OMI. In the years 1965 - 1967 under the tutelage of the Provincial Conservator of Monuments, visual artist Mrs. W.M. Skuza preserves the interior, renewing it in the spirit of the original folk polychrome. This deed, to which the entire parish contributed, honored the memorable millennium of the baptism of our homeland. The beginning of the 21st century is a time of major renovation of the temple.

In the wall surrounding the church there are old tombstones and a plaque commemorating the Greater Poland Insurgents.
