Myoshinji (妙 心 寺, Myōshinji) is a large temple complex in northwestern Kyoto, which includes around 50 sub-temples in addition to the main buildings. While a few of the temple halls can be entered, the majority of the lower temples are closed to the public. However, visitors can walk around freely on the hiking trails. The temple complex is similar to the Daitokuji temple in several ways.

Within the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism, the Myoshinji is the main temple of the Myoshinji school with over 3000 connected temples and describes itself as the largest of all Zen temples. Myoshinji was founded in 1337 when an abdicated emperor converted an imperial villa into a Zen temple.
