Brother Konrad Grotto

Karl Wirtz brought these stones together to form a small devotional grotto when he was tilling his farmland.

He did this after being struck by lightning in his field. He dedicated the grotto to Saint Konrad, which is why it is simply called "Konrad".

The hiker slowly approaching this small sacred monument will probably first assume that a statue of the Virgin Mary has been placed in the bricked-up grotto, and will look with amazement at the cross found within.
