Sequoias in the Black Forest? This is possible thanks to King Wilhelm I of Württemberg. The nature-loving ruler was a great friend of giant trees. So he had seeds sent from America for his botanical garden in Stuttgart, the Wilhelma. However, there is said to have been a mishap when ordering: instead of a lot of seeds (about 15 grams), the royal gardener received “a lot” (500 grams).
