Sequoias in the Black Forest? This is possible thanks to King Wilhelm I of Württemberg. The nature-loving ruler was a great friend of giant trees. So he had seeds sent from America for his botanical garden in Stuttgart, the Wilhelma. However, there is said to have been a mishap when ordering: instead of a lot of seeds (about 15 grams), the royal gardener received “a lot” (500 grams). That's why you can find North American trees in the Black Forest and on the Swabian Jura from time to time, including here.

Wherever you go and encounter these huge trees. Again and again the size and scope of the trees are amazing.
