The building complex was then built for the ministries and offices in Florence, but only from 1559 to about 1581 used for it. The name is still preserved, "uffici" is Italian and means "offices".
Since 1580, the Uffizi Gallery has been home to the freely accessible "Galleria degli Uffizi", an art collection of works of painting and sculpture from antiquity to late Baroque.
From the Palazzo Vecchio you can take the inner courtyard towards the Arno, marveling at the intriguing stone figures made by master craftsmen who portray important Italians.
