    Hiking

The "five-story pagoda of To-ji" was originally built in 826 by the monk "Kobo Daishi". With a height of 57 meters, it is the highest wooden pagoda in Japan and a symbol of both the temple and Kyoto. The ground floor of the pagoda is only irregularly open to the public.

At the moment, the pagoda undergoes a major renovation.
