Saint-Jean-aux-Bois is a small village. It was almost classified among the "most beautiful villages in France", alas, it was not. A short walk will allow you to discover the fortified gate and its drawbridge, the old abbey and the beautiful rue des Abbesses.

Saint-Jean-aux-Bois, a charming village located in the Oise department, in the Hauts-de-France region.
This village has a rich history and is known for its abbey founded by Queen Adelaide in 1152, its great organ in the abbey church, and its botanical garden. It is also said that the famous song "Mon Amant de Saint-Jean" was composed in the village inn "La Bonne Idée" by Bruno Carrara.
The village is surrounded by the forest of Compiègne, where you can go hiking, cycling, or discover the oldest oak tree in France, planted by monks during the reign of Saint Louis.
