The castle with its extensive landscaped park is also one of the three Elbe castles on the Loschwitz Elbhöhe. It was built from 1859 to 1861 for the wholesale merchant John Daniel Souchay in the style of English Gothic Revival. The gardens and the castle with its 25-meter-high observation tower are an important testimony to Dresden's romance. Since 1985, the castle has been used as a hotel.
