Ziegenrück is simply a small, sleepy place between the Thuringian seas. The food is very good and there are countless beautiful cycling and hiking trails. A detour is worthwhile.

At this shady rest area there are 2 benches and a table. The hall is dammed here and so you can hold your feet or hands in the river.

The city lies in the deeply carved valley of the meandering Saale between the Bleilochtalsperre upstream and the Hohenwarte reservoir downstream. The Kemenate Ziegenrück lies above the city. As the tight geographic location prevented further development, Ziegenrück is one of the smallest cities in Thuringia today (Wikipedia).

In addition to the weir, if you want, you can go for a round of boating.

Looks good - you only need a sound sleep if you live next to it ... 😉
A stroll through Ziegenrück is nice. Should be done. The route is manageable ...

The Saale weir looks good - but ... if you live next to it, the background noise could be annoying at night ...

As a cyclist it is difficult because it is easy to get into the village, but difficult to get out ...: D (It was just a joke, since all roads go uphill from Ziegerück - but you have to go through there).
I can recommend the following routes:
    - Pass the hotel "Am Schlossberg" and turn right in front of the kiosk towards Paska (from there you have a wonderful view of the Saale loop).
    - Past the Heinke restaurant in the direction of Knau - the manor there is worth seeing.
    - Direction Bad Lobenstein and at the end of the village turn towards Walsburg - and then continue via Dörflas to Burgk Castle. You have to see the small chapel in Dörflas and Bugk with the castle and the Saaleturm!

We stayed overnight on the Saale Cycle Path from Münchberg to Jena in Ziegenrück, in the Gasthaus "Zur Fernmühle". We can highly recommend this. Everything is right here, very nice, friendly staff and owner. Nice rooms, tastefully decorated restaurant and good food. The bicycles "spend the night" in a locked room.
