Mareit is a fraction of the municipality of Ratschings in South Tyrol. The town is located at an altitude of around 1050 m above sea level in the Ridnauntal valley. It is located 7 km west of Sterzing and, with around 2346 inhabitants, is the most populous fraction of the municipality. Mareit is the historical and ecclesiastical main town of the Ridnauntal valley.
