In connection with the ruins of Reifenegg, a legend is also told, which tells of a ghost dog guarding a precious treasure in the basement of the then Reifenegg Castle. The treasure is said to have been amassed by the robber knights who once lived in the castle. They had attacked, stolen and murdered vulnerable hikers. According to the legend, there is only an opportunity to get the treasure every 100 years.
