The St. Peter's Church, built in 1352, belonged to the Neustadt Teutonic Order parish. The building received its current shape in 1893-1895 by re-arching and extending the ship to the west with a new facade. A memorial chapel for the victims of the First World War was inaugurated in the north aisle in 1927. The monument above “Indignant Christ” by Walter Krause (1891-1967) is considered the Mühlhausen sculptor’s most important work. St. Petri is an open church on the Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage route.
