The deserted village of Hopfgarten is one kilometer away from Teichröda. As early as 1217, the priest Heinrich was commissioned by the chief clergyman of the town church in Rudolstadt to hold the early mass and to be vicar in the village of Hopfgarten. Teichröda has the following records: 1417, 1420 and 1450. From 1420 onwards, however, the population gradually moved to Teichröda and the neighboring towns. Around 1663, a lime hut still existed on the site of the deserted village. The following literature provides further details.[
