This year, for the third time, I cycled this route up here, and every time, no water flows from the spring. That really surprised me; because the last days have been heavy rainfall.
The Haune itself is a 66.5 km long right tributary of the Fulda.
The Haune rises in the nature park Hessian Rhön and in the biosphere reserve Rhön in the Milseburger Kuppenrhön, a western part of the Rhön. This is in the district of Fulda about 2 km east of the Künzeller district Dietershausen on the western flank of the mountain Giebelrain (about 590 m above sea level) - at about 480 m altitude.
On their way the Haune flows through the district of Fulda and Hersfeld Rotenburg. It passes many places and absorbs the waters of various tributaries. Finally, the Haune in Bad Hersfeld - after passing under the Federal Highway 4 and the Federal Highway 62 - coming from the south - at about 198 m altitude flows into the there about from southwest inflowing Fulda.
