At the Kreuzbuckel, a primeval forest of tomorrow is emerging on an area of 69 hectares. The approximately 150-year-old mixed beech and oak forest with individual spruce and larch groups has been withdrawn from forestry use since 1998. This natural forest reserve will develop back into a primeval forest without any outside intervention.
Such areas, which are excluded from forestry use, should occur much more in the Spessart.translated by
