On December 13, 2011, the Swiss lynx male Juro was abandoned in the Hintergebirge, in the Kalkalpen National Park. Only a few months earlier, the lynx Freia, also from Switzerland, had been relocated to the Kalkalpen National Park. The strictly protected lynxes, both of whom were of reproductive age, were to look after their offspring, the members of the Luchs Upper Austrian Limestone Alps working group hoped. Unfortunately, everything turned out differently and both animals were killed in the Weyer community.
