The Via Appia Antica is one of the most famous consular roads in the world. It connects Rome with Brindisi, which was once the gateway to Greece and the East. The Via Appia Antica is the remains of a once very important trade and military route that began in the center of Rome (like many other ancient highways) and ran to Brindisi. The VA antica is the rest of it. For several kilometers it runs almost dead straight, in several places the old, 2,000-year-old paving is still there, but most of it has now been replaced by newer paving stones of a different format. Nevertheless, it is still a very interesting street and even cars still use it. However, it is mostly used by pedestrians and cyclists, who also like to use the trails to the left and right of the street. It's just too tiring to walk on the street all the time.
