Best Hikes to Ritterhof
Tips
  • Great rest area with drinks station at the Ritterhof on the Gebirger Höfe-Weg. This rest area is located directly on the Kuderer family farm. There is a seating area with a bench and table where you can enjoy your snack. You are also welcome to help yourself to a delicious selection of drinks from the refrigerator for a fee.

  • Today's farm was built in 1827. 40 carpenters built the structure in 6 months. The architectural style of the farm is the Kinzigtäler farm type. A total of 500 cubic meters of wood were processed.

The farm has always been family-owned. The name Kuderer has been firmly rooted in the Ritterhof since 1849. In 1997 the outbuilding was built as a holiday home. Holiday apartments have been rented out since 1998.

In 1999 the farm was badly affected by Storm Lothar on Boxing Day. The storm caused enormous damage to buildings and 34 hectares of forest fell victim to it. The areas were all reforested in the coming years.

    Difference from before and now:

Agriculture used to be practiced on the Ritterhof. Potatoes for humans and animals as well as various types of grain were grown. There was more arable land than grassland.

In the past, farmhands or maids still lived on the farm.

During the seasonal periods, Romanian seasonal workers help with the work on the farm.

    Year of construction: 1827

Size/usable area: 10 hectares of agriculture, 50 hectares of forest

Main occupation: holiday apartment, fruit growing, forestry, Christmas trees, beekeeping, distillery

Animals on the farm: ponies, goats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, and also boarding cattle during the summer months

Farm products: honey, schnapps and liqueurs

  • The family tree of the Kuderer family can be traced back completely to 1596. The listed farm building was built in 1827 in the “Kinzigtäler Schwarzwaldhof” architectural style, is still in excellent condition today and is lived in by the family themselves.

In addition to a drinks station, there is also a court museum with museum-quality finds from ancient times.
