Bike Touring Highlight
The Überlingen city garden is one of the most important botanical gardens in the Vierländerregion Bodensee due to the diversity of species and the harmonious combination of unformed and landscaped nature. The climate-favored location at the foot of the Molasse rock makes Mediterranean and exotic plants thrive in a small space. It owes its origins to the city's desire to offer an attractive park to spa and bathing guests, who became more and more numerous during the 19th century. In 1875, Schlossgärtner von Heiligenberg was commissioned to create a garden on the vineyards and vegetable land west of the city. The first plants came from the island of Mainau, where since 1855 there was a grand ducal park.ueberlingen-bodensee.de/Media/Sehenswertes/Unterer-Stadtgarten
