The Mümmelkensee is located about 2.3 kilometers northwest of Bansin in the municipality of Heringsdorf in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The lake is surrounded by forest and is located about 1 kilometer northeast of the Schmollensee. The name goes back to the Mummel, the yellow pond rose.
