The ruins of the gatehouse of Ludgerusburg Castle, along with its fortifications, date from the second half of the 17th century. Ludgerusburg Castle was built under Prince-Bishop Christoph Bernhard von Galen, but never completed and was demolished after the bishop's death. The gatehouse ruins feature basket-arched niches on the sides and some loopholes. This historic structure provides access to Coesfeld's city park. It can be reached from the park in the direction of the Osterwicker Straße cultural promenade or from the promenade's footpath.
