In 1146, the provisional complex built in 1145 became the Riddagshausen monastery.
The gatehouse, the monastery wall made of quarry stone, the women's or strangers' chapel, the ailing chapel and the monastery church of St. Mariae are still preserved from the original monastery.

The monastery garden at the former monastery church of St. Maria is a public show garden. It is a reconstruction based on old plans from various monasteries. It provides an overview of medicinal and useful plants and types of fruit trees that were cultivated in Central European monasteries in the Middle Ages. The plants and the garden are described in more detail during guided tours. Culture sponsors take care of the beds - everyone can contribute here, which is a great thing.
