The Protestant church forms the center of the Altdöbern market. Around the church there are trees and benches in a small park-like area and invite you to linger. The church building was built from 1918 to 1921 according to plans by the architect Curt Steinberg and was inaugurated on January 20, 1921 after the previous medieval building burned down in 1914. The largest village church bell in Brandenburg is unique. The memorial for the fallen in the form of a stele commemorates the victims of the First World War. It was inaugurated in 1925. The Soviet Cemetery of Honor can be found in the immediate vicinity of the Altdöberner Church. 98 fallen Soviet soldiers found their final resting place here.

On May 12, 1914, the previous building of today's church was destroyed by arson. Today's church was built from 1918 to 1921 according to plans by the architect Curt Steinberg and was consecrated on January 20, 1921.
The church is in the neo-baroque style. The church tower is 41 meters high and carries the largest bell in Brandenburg. The single-nave church building is structured by pilasters and arched windows and is crowned by a mighty mansard roof. To the east is an apse divided by arched and oculi windows as well as pilasters and cornices.
