The Eider, Schleswig-Holstein's longest river, stretches 188 kilometers from its source to its mouth in the North Sea. The river begins in the hilly moraine region south of Kiel, more precisely at the Heickenteich and a small lake on the Schönhagen estate. From there, the Eider winds its way through the state in numerous twists and turns, initially as the Upper Eider, past Rendsburg, where it empties into the Kiel Canal. The river's course is interrupted by the canal but continues westward until it empties into the North Sea near Tönning.

Small bathing area with watchtower, DRLG emergency call box. Don't forget your bathing suit.

A very beautiful, but later very bumpy and sometimes muddy, path follows. The bridge, by the way, seems to be intended more for walking.

Without a bridge it would be over here.

I also got to know the path that leads over this pretty bridge by following unfamiliar routes.
