The old Levensau high bridge was built at the end of the 19th century for rail and tram traffic. The new eastern Levensau high bridge was built about 90 years later as a motor road and is not navigable by bicycle. The old high bridge is currently still accessible and offers an amazing panorama of the Kiel Canal. Photographers will love this spot! The bridge also provides shelter for around 6,000 bats in winter. According to the Waterways and Shipping Authority, the end of the technical service life of the bridge is expected in 2024. Access is repeatedly blocked due to construction work. It is best to check before visiting whether the bridge is currently accessible. Information is available at: wsa-kiel.wsv.de.

It is an arched bridge that was the largest bridge when the canal was rebuilt. Striking are the wintering quarters of the bats at the abutments of the bridge.

Of all bridges, this is truly one of the nicer! Always worth a photo 📷
Unfortunately, the last days are numbered -
after 125 years, this bridge will unfortunately be demolished again😢
But
still worth a photo 📷
