The Tankumsee near Isenbüttel (Gifhorn district) is essentially the "big sibling" of the Bernsteinsee in Stüde. With approximately 62 hectares of water surface, it is significantly larger and one of the most well-known local recreation destinations in the entire region between Wolfsburg, Gifhorn and Braunschweig. The Tankumsee is famous for its approximately 1,000-meter-long, fine sandy beach. This creates a real vacation feeling in the summer.

Small airfield for glider pilots, in good weather and flight operations good for an interesting break for aviation enthusiasts

95% of the tour runs along a busy road. There was NO sign of the heath, and we had a headwind the entire way. There was nothing to see except fields and cars. We are extremely disappointed 😞 😔 😟

Alwin's "tip" was copied from the internet and—with all due respect—is nonsense. There are, of course, many "castle lakes," but the one he described is a body of water on Lake Constance. Salem Castle Lake Nature Adventure Park • Outdoor Pool » Bodensee-Linzgau Tourism https://share.google/hmTo7fhljvIgpGmTg Only dogs are allowed to swim in Gifhorn Castle Lake 🤷 It's beautiful there, though, and there are actually benches.
