The Noaberpad (LAW 10) is a special Long-Distance Hiking Trail of over 460 kilometers, which takes you along the border between the Netherlands and Germany. You walk from Bad Nieuweschans in the far northeast of Groningen to the German Kleef (Kleve in German), just across the border from Nijmegen. Along the way, you discover the unique character of the nature, culture and history of the border region.

The route takes you over quiet paths, along valleys, forests and heaths, through old fortified towns and quiet villages. You cross the border dozens of times unnoticed, sometimes via an old smuggling path, then again along a historic border stone. Highlights along the way include the Westerwolde, the Bargerveen, the Ruiten Aa, Kasteel Huis Bergh and the view from the Hulzenberg. The variety makes this trail so special: from the Groningen peat to the river landscapes of the Rhine, and from the rolling fields and hedgerows of Twente to German castles.

The Noaberpad is marked with white-red stripes as you know them from all Long-Distance Hiking Trails (LAW). The route is divided into clear stages that are often easily accessible by public transport. This does not apply to all starting and ending points, so it is wise to check this in advance. In larger places you can usually stay overnight easily, while in quieter places you sometimes have to look for a B&B’s or small campsite.

In this Collection you will find all stages conveniently together, so you can get started right away. Prefer to make your own plan? Use the entire route as inspiration and put together your ideal Hiking days yourself. Whether you go Hiking for a day, go on a weekend Hike or want to walk the entire route, the Noaberpad is an unforgettable experience.

In the mood for a cross-border adventure full of nature, tranquility and stories from the past? Put on your Hiking shoes and discover the Noaberpad, where the Netherlands and Germany meet.
