Day two of our ride on the White Peak Loop started at 7.00 am with a bowl of instant porridge ( just add hot water) and an energy bar followed by a shower at the campsites superb facilities. After loading the bikes up with our camping gear we set off down the 17 mile long High Peak Trail stopping at

On paper the White Peak Loop looks easy joining both the Monsal and High Peak Trails together to make one continuous loop but unfortunately this ride has a sting in the tail.
Myself and cycling buddy Michael decided to complete the route over two days starting at Bakewell on the Monsal Trail which is

It was just a perfect day to hop on the bike for an easy ride on the canal towpath to Sowerby Bridge and back.It was just too hot to tackle some of the Pennine hills. Although a nice flat easy ride, with it being the weekend and lovely weather everybody and their dogs had the same idea so progress was

The weather was fantastic just too good to waste@@ doing jobs at home so the bike went on the back of the car to park up at Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve for a ride to Selby and back via the village of Ledson.
I originally thought of going by train but the Transpennine Route Upgrade made It difficult

With the best day of the year so far, blue skies a warm temperature and little or no breeze it just demanded a decent ride out. Setting off from my cycling buddies place it was a straight forward road ride but we diverted onto an old disused railway cutting at Hall Green and joined the tow paths alongside

My first decent ride of 2025 took me from my home town of Mirfield to Hebden Bridge. Setting off on a cold but dry morning I decided to travel up the valley on the tow paths of the Hebble and Calder Navigation and the Rochdale Canal although I did have to travel on the road at times as some stretches

Met up with my friend Mike for a ride in the hills above Shelley, the weather was kind at the start with bright sunshine and a light breeze but as we climbed the wind got stronger and the temperature dropped, so as we had already decided to only do a short ride today I think we made the right call.

It's been a while since we took a ride out to Bank View Cafe at Langsett as the weather forecast for that day looked good so the opportunity was taken as it meant another climb over the hills of the Pennines to reach our destination.
After a hearty bowl of home made spicy tomato soup and a crusty roll

Bright sunshine and a blue sky made for an easy ride to Pugneys Country Park near Wakefield, but the bitter cold of zero degrees along with freezing fingers made the ride somewhat a struggle.
After navigating the windchill factor and reaching our destination for a large hot coffee and a bacon and sausage

Today I decided to take a ride from my home town of Mirfield to the Pennine town of Marsden via road but mainly on the canal towpath.
I set off following the route I've taken in the past only to find after a couple of miles the route was closed due to work on the Trans Pennine Rail Upgrade so it meant
