Manfred-K went for a bike ride.
February 4, 2026

Today was the day. With glorious sunshine and a refreshing chill, I set off from Datteln to Fischhaus Lichte in Wanne-Eickel. I'd heard about it many times before, but had never been. I must say, it was well worth it. The fried fish was exceptionally delicious, and the homemade potato salad was too

Dear Manfred, the explanation about the new fish ladder is very helpful. They have to swim in serpentine paths, the little guys 🤔. Unfortunately, I still don't know if there are any further plans. It almost looks like the beginning of a park, but I can't really imagine that – nature conservation and

Originally, Hullerner See was the destination, but the sun was calling for "open fields." So, a ride around Olfen became the perfect option, which was also very nice. My e-bike is still in winter storage, so I used my regular bike, which worked perfectly well too.

For various reasons, I haven't had much time for cycling lately. So I enjoyed this short afternoon ride all the more. The sun wasn't shining anymore, but the leaves were still colorful, and the two lakes are always worth seeing. It was lovely...

Traditionally, the thank-you tour for the tour leaders of the SuS Olfener Radlertreff takes place every year on German Unity Day. This was the 23rd season. Who would have thought that when it was founded?
Today's tour, perfectly prepared by @Clemens W., led from the small village of Loikum near Hamminkeln

Admittedly, there are shorter routes to Datteln's Hornbach, but this one is certainly one of the more scenic. And if the saddlebags are big enough and the weather cooperates, my car can rest in the garage.

It was another two wonderful days with the SuS Olfener Radlertreff (Sus Olfen Cycling Club). Today was characterized by the diverse landscape along the Rhine, with its oxbow lakes and the Millingerwaard nature reserve. Parking the bikes in Nijmegen in one of the many guarded and free bike garages is

The weather put everyone in a good mood right from the start. From Kleve, we headed along the Voltaire Trail, past Moyland Castle, towards Kessel. A picnic break was enjoyed at the lovely pallet seating area on Kesseler Straße. Afterwards, we crossed the renaturalized Niers River towards the Dutch border

Today's brief window of sunshine had to be taken advantage of. Many, many people thought the same and drove to the Westruper Heide heath. Nevertheless, it was a lovely little hike; the heath is actually wonderful to look at in every season, and above all, the sun is always shining. Incredibly, the parking
