Went for a woodland and riverside exploration. Found some tracks i haven't ridden before, Nice loop round Waterside Park and Hole Lane, Wylam track wa quiet I believe there was something online Sunderland this afternoon. Not as muddy as I thought. Great descent down Milkwellburn Wood but should have

Things to do in the afternoon so a short ride round the tracks. Also missed the rain. Lots of gloop around ! Dry start up the new cycleway and on the gravel to Sluice though. Had to lower the trye pressures for the mud. Time gap was a puncture, and turns out by schoolboy error the first spare tube also had a flat. Poor packing.

Shortish run out, not too rainy but the tracks a touch on the soggy side. New housing development near Killingworth has closed the south end of the waggonway for the time being. You can divert off onto the estate road, but the stony bridleway south direct from the end is also closed off. Tested out some

Suitably refreshed off for the return with some sun. Could have done without the tw@t in a Passat who decided to come past me at 40 on a single track road. Shame he declined my invitation to stop and "discuss" his shite driving. Then 5 mins later another car came up behind, but at 18mph to match me

Out on the road bike today. Got to Capheaton, forgot to pause, belatedly realised, then managed to end the ride. So theres another ride and the old average speed took a hit on this one. Chilly and grey, but the sun came out later. Tasty provender as ever at Capheaton

Flipped the bike or hike coin and it came down for a wander with the woofer. Up the coast on the beach, a coffee and tasty apple strudel from Sprockets coffee van in Seaton Sluice. Then down a distinctly autumnal Holywell Dene. Rain came down as we neared the Left Luggage Room, so shelter and refreshment

Missed being out for a few hours so headed out. What a grey day. And damp. Lovely. Still, the tracks are mostly quite dry. Headed up on the new Sunrise cycleway then went west. The Seaton Burn-Weetslade track closure was a bit more than expected so some fence dodging and off piste undergrowth brashing

Various reasons for no bike ride, not least going to see Suzanne Vega tonight. Blustery walk up the seafront and a few pints in the always magnificent Left Luggage Room. Which had Verdant Lightbulb on cask ! Very rare to see cask from the Devonian beer maestros this far North, so had three pints. Dog

Couple of hours out locally today, things on in the afternoon. Went round some of my favourite tracks and visited the Spoon. Left behind many centuries ago by a passing giant. Started off quite cool but got sunny and warm fairly soon. As usual, next to no other riders encountered on the non waggonway off road sections.
Went out to burn some calories in anticipation of ingesting a lot more. Some of the tracks would certainly take a stud, as we say in the rugby world, some not too bad. Weetslade track is wider and gravellier, but seems to be bumpier than it used to be I think ?
