Nach Kitzingen- Runde von Sommerach
Heute geht es mal nicht in die Stille der Weinlagen, es sind die Hotspots am Fluss angesagt; also immer schön am Main entlang... Die Landschaft hier unten ist abwechslungsreicher als man glaubt: die leicht wellige Aue ist geprägt von wilden Wiesen, Obstbäumen und Äckern; Wein spielt hier nicht die dominierende Rolle. An schmucken Orten wie Dettelbach vorbei führt der Weg, bis schließlich der Endpunkt der Fahrt erreicht ist: Kitzingen. Der Blick von der linken Flusseite hinüber zur Altstadt offenbart eine wunderschöne Mainfront. Kitzingen ist das regionale Handels- und Industriezentrum mit lebendiger Kulturszene und einer der ältesten Orte am Main. Schon im Mittelalter war die Stadt ein Verkehrsknotenpunkt, befand sich hier doch bereits um 1300 eine Brücke, die ein wichtiges Glied der Handelsstraße von Regensburg über Nürnberg und Würzburg zum Rhein bildete. Mittelpunkt der Altstadt ist der von schmucken Fachwerk- und Bürgehäusern gerahmte Marktplatz. Glanzlichter sind das stattliche Renaissancerathaus, der 39 m hohe Marktturm und die kath. Pfarrkirche St. Johannes, eines der bedeutensten spätgotischen Gotteshäuser Unterfrankens. Entlang des linken Mainufers geht es über Schwarzach mit der riesigen Benediktinerabtei zurück nach Sommerach. Eine schöne entspannte Tour. To be continued. 🚴♂️💨
