So first of all: why 67 km on the odometer for a 75 km course? Because we shortened the last section, close to home and the terrain we know well, so as not to blow the organizers' return timer too much (it was late, and I had a doubt they'd check the finishers to make sure all the starters had returned

Quite a few climbs and descents at the start, but we managed not to burn out.

In the Beauce region, we rode with the wind at our backs for a good part of the way.

As we approached Maintenon, a threatening storm was approaching, but ultimately our trusty steeds allowed us to escape the forces of Mordor

We quickly alternate between climbs and descents, but the countryside is beautiful and varied!

And there are some pretty little towns: Belleme and La Périère in particular.

This perfect weather is a great opportunity to try a multi-day cycling route!

Crossing the Beauce feels like riding through a Windows 95 desktop background; it's nice to find more variety in the Perche!

Pleasant weather and a mostly dry forest: we set off for a walk with my daughter to explore the area's hills, alternating with gravel trails through the undergrowth.

Well, I'm happy: the first time I've climbed the hill between St Rémy and Magny-les-Hameaux, and between Milon-la-Chapelle and the Château

My daughter had motivated me to do a round-trip bike ride to Chartres at the end of winter, and for this early spring, we opted for a one-way trip to Notre Dame de Paris (well, one-way by bike, and return by train to Rambouillet), to complete the Véloscénie route between Paris and Chartres.

With all the bikes back, we went on a family ride in the afternoon, passing through Sonchamp and then continuing into Beauce.

It was great fun heading southwest, but it was much less so heading northeast from Craches, with a strong, icy wind in our faces!

A nice moment: a small group of deer crossed our path in Beauce.
