Wortham Ling

This small patch of lowland heath makes a dramatic change to the nearby Waveney Valley and its water meadows.

Just south-west of the market town of Diss, rambling around this beautiful open access land is extremely pleasant and the Angles Way long-distance footpath cuts right through it.

Sandringham House and Gardens

Highlight • Settlement

A famous royal getaway, Sandringham House has served as a private home for royals since 1862 and remains the Queen's favourite country retreat. Surrounded by 20,000 acres of manicured gardens, green parks and woodlands, the beautiful estate has been open to the public since 1977. About the estate, George V once said "dear old Sandringham, the place I love better than anywhere else in the world." George V and VI both died in the house. It's easy to see why the place was so dear to them.

Hunstanton Striped Cliffs

A very popular tourist destination, Hunstanton offers a gently sloping beach with rock pools at the Northern end leading to Hunstanton’s famous red and white stripped cliffs, the unusual colours caused by sand and iron oxide and chalk.

As the only west facing resort on the east coast of England, it's one of the few spots you can watch the sunset across the sea.

There are two sides to Hunstanton, the elegant old Victorian town with its Esplanade Gardens and the lively traditional family holiday resort with amusements.

Holkham Park

Highlight • Lake

The parklands surrounding Halkham Hall extend for over 3000 acres. Originally designed by William Kent, the parklands have evolved over the centuries. You can explore the walled kitchen gardens, walk to the obelisk, visit the vinery, marvel at plants in the greenhouses and walk around the glistening lake.

There's a 10-mile (16 km) circular route through the park for cyclists. Expect to see lots of wildlife, especially deers.

The park is open from 9am to 4pm during winter and until 5pm in summer. Most of the park is free to visit. If you would like to see the hall and walled gardens, tickets cost £14.40 per adult.

Warham Camp Iron Age Fort

Highlight • Viewpoint

Interesting detour through Wighton village to Warham Camp: Iron Age fort, claimed to be the biggest and most important of its kind in East Anglia. Large grass-covered mound about 5m tall, with double moat, giving great views over countryside to coast, with information board about the fort's history. Take L turn after crossing river; uphill on road, then L again on to grassy track, at brow of hill, approx 200m through two gates and stile to camp.
