Covering nearly 217 miles (350 km)
in total, this trail takes in scenic jaunts through coastal towns and picturesque countryside. Our pick is the stretch from Fishguard westwards to St David’s.

Millennium Coastal Path Marshes

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A cycle path leads amongst tall grass, sand and salt marshes here, overlooking the sea. The landscapes attract a huge array of birds. The marshes are just up the coast from the National Wetlands Centre.

Look out for sand on the path and be prepared to push at times. The wind dumps sand across the marshes.

WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre

Highlight • Viewpoint

Llanelli's wetland centre is a vast area of ponds, marshes and enclosures. There's plenty of amazing birdwatching to be had here, from native herons to Caribbean flamingoes calling the centre home.

The Millennium Coastal Path cycle and hiking route goes past the centre and it's easy to visit. There's a charge to enter and you can find out more at: wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/llanelli

Swansea Bay Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

Along Swansea's seafront, there is a wonderful bike path that traces Swansea Bay. With fantastic views across the bay, the traffic-free path leads 5.8 miles (9.3 km) between the Observatory and Mumbles Head.

The path passes plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs if you get thirsty or hungry along the way.

Caerphilly Castle

Highlight • Historical Site

Caerphilly Castle is one of the most complete, still standing castles in South Wales. You can park for free at Morrisons just up the road, and entry is free on certain days. It's worth checking ahead!

National Cycle Route 4 Gravel Path Near Magor

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A great ride along Cycle Route 4 on some fine gravel over the dykes and through the flat fields.

Severn Bridge Cycleway

Highlight • Bridge

You’ll be cycling along the side of the motorway but because it’s just below, you feel well separated from the traffic. There's also a cycle lane on the other side of the motorway, so you can mix it up!
