North of Stuttgart Enz and Neckar with picturesque river valleys lure to extensive hikes. Especially beautiful: the Hessigheim rock gardens at the mouth of the Enz in the Neckar. Rugged limestone cliffs rise high above the Neckar from the sun-drenched valley slopes. On a circular route we lead you through the vineyards on the Neckar, over the rock gardens and to the most beautiful vantage points around Besigheim and Hessigheim. The starting point of the tour, the station Besigheim, you can easily reach from Stuttgart with the regional train R4. Here you walk through the cozy town, which is bordered on one side by the river Enz and on the other side by the river Neckar. With a view of the confluence of the Enz, you cross the Neckar and climb directly to the Hessigheim rock gardens. On the exciting rocks you can see climbers on many days of the year, trying on the steep walls. There is also a fantastic view of the Neckar valley for free.Above Hessigheim, you will continue to stroll through the vineyards, admire the Neckarschleife and then descend to the shore. Here you cross the river and follow a narrow footpath directly along the shore. Soon, the trail climbs gently. During the climb, you can take a look at the rock gardens on the other side of the river and reach Besigheim a little later. From the train station the train will finally bring you back home.
