From Hallington through the Northumberland fields and empty pathways past ruined bastles to Thockrington and the church where Sir William Beveridge is buried. Tom Sharpe the novelist's ashes were buried in the churchyard in 2014. His father was once vicar of Thockrington.
The Shafto family, including Bonnie Bobby and several members of this ancient family, first recorded in 1240, are buried here. They lived at nearby Bavington. Onto the St Oswalds Way and Great Bavington.
