Vom Parkplatz Gfäll Wanderten wir auf dem „Auerhahn“ markierten Weg steil bergauf am Lieslbrunn vorbei zum Waldschmidthaus. Am Waldschmidthaus vorbei über Steintreppen zum Gipfel des Großen Rachels (1.453 m)
Der Abstieg führte über felsiges Gelände mit schönen Ausblick Richtung Tschechien, zur stimmungsvollen Rachelkapelle mit einem herrlichen Blick zum Rachelsee. Nach kurzer Rast gings weiter zum idyllisch gelegenen Rachelsee. Danach gings das letzte Stück zurück zum Parkplatz Gfäll.
