Das Mănăstirea Lainici ist ein malerisches orthodoxes Kloster, das wunderschön und völlig abgeschieden inmitten der wilden, bewaldeten Schlucht des Jiu-Tals liegt. Der historische Komplex strahlt eine tiefe, fast mystische Ruhe aus und dient seit Jahrhunderten als spiritueller Zufluchtsort für Reisende, die den Pass überqueren. Neben der alten, stimmungsvollen Kirche beeindruckt die Anlage vor allem durch ihre dramatische Naturkulisse, da sie direkt von steilen Felswänden und rauschenden Flüssen umgeben ist.
