Easier Traws Eryri Stage 1 Machynlleth to Dolgellau

This was the first day of my attempt at Traws Eryri. Since the weather was heavy showers and windy I thought it best not to be on exposed track halfway up Cader Idris so binned the official route in favour of this alternative from Katherine Moore. And it was a gem with actually more off-road. I took the track into the forest above Corris but the route down was overgrown with brambles so I backtracked and descended on part of the Mach tracks which was brilliant. After that, one of the heavy showers rolled in and it rained on and off up the monstrous 300m climb. Over the top it was clear and I was on the well constructed Lon las Cymru NCN 8. Finally there were some sweet single-track descent into Dolgellau. A fantastic ride despite the weather not being great
