Rakek station is easy to get to from eg Ljubljana or Trieste. The ride avoids main roads. About 50% is gravel, but very good gravel. I had no problems with a loaded trekking bike. The climbing is doable, but the final one after the Croatian border is a bit tougher with 8% warnings and virtually no shade. Excellent sights along the way and beautiful villages and landscapes everywhere.
