We started and ended at the long stay car park on Coxons Lane, clearly Komoot was having a hissy on it 🙄
We enjoyed an easy stroll around a historic garrison town that had changed hands between Scotland and England some thirteen times.
Berwick's ramparts were built between 1558 and 1570 to deter any attack from French or Scottish forces, who were allied at the time in support of Mary Queen of Scots. The defences were never tested - Mary lost her head and the crowns of Scotland and England were united in 1603.
