The cycling tour starts in Friedrichsdorf and first climbs steadily towards the Batzenbaum. The ascent leads through the surrounding Taunus landscape and provides increasingly open views over the countryside. From the Batzenbaum, the route continues downhill towards the Saalburg Roman Fort, one of the best-preserved Roman military sites along the former Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes.
From the Saalburg, the route continues through the forest to the Jupiter Column, a reconstruction of a Roman monument reflecting the Roman presence in the region. The surrounding woodland gives the tour a pleasant combination of natural and historical highlights.
The return section is particularly enjoyable for mountain bikers. The route follows several flowing forest trails, with smooth descents, gentle bends and short technical sections. Small bridges cross a stream at several points, adding variety to the ride and making this section especially enjoyable.
Towards the end of the tour, the forest opens up and the route provides a beautiful panoramic view of the Frankfurt skyline, creating a striking contrast between the quiet Taunus woodland and the modern cityscape in the distance. From there, the route continues back towards Friedrichsdorf and the original starting point.
Overall, the tour combines a moderate climb, scenic descents, Roman historical sites, enjoyable flow trails and a spectacular final view of Frankfurt.
