Adolfo Sonino Mountain Hut at Coldai

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Sonnino al Coldai refuge, belonging to the CAI section of Venice, is located at the northern end of the grandiose Civetta group, at the head of the steep Val de le Ziolere. Its construction dates back to 1905, with renovation works that were carried out in the early 1930s, thanks to funding provided by the family of the late mountaineer Adolfo Sonino.

The climb, rather simple and equally popular, offers splendid views of the Val Zoldana and a privileged observation point of Monte Pelmo, but also of the equally imposing silhouettes of Cristallo and Antelao or the jagged profile of Croda da Lago.

A visit to the nearby Coldai lake cannot be missed.

Lake Coldai

Highlight • Lake

Lake Coldai is an alpine lake of glacial origin located at an altitude of 2,143 meters, surrounded by majestic rock walls and meadows full of flowers typical of this environment. It owes its green color to the mineral mixture that characterizes its waters. It has natural origins and is fed annually by the melting of snow deposits deposited in winter.

The unique color, the wonderful mountain landscapes, the imposing walls of Mount Civetta make the lake a unique and very fascinating place, a popular excursion destination for thousands of visitors every year.

OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED.

Ru de Porta Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

From the locality of Piani di Pezzè go up the ski lift of the school field. At the top, the path climbs straight into the woods with immediately marked slopes. After a couple of km the dense vegetation gives way to small shrubs and the path becomes more challenging on alpine rock terrain with an incredible view of the Civetta. From here you go up a narrow channel with very demanding slopes. Sure-footedness and suitable footwear are required. Arrived at the top of the canal, the last stretch, to be covered on a narrow path is shrubs and rocks, leads to Lake Coldai.
The path, about 3/4 km long from the start to the lake, completes about 800mt of difference in height +
