Great walk through the City to Brick Lane along some of London's oldest streets including Fournier Street where residential development began in 1714. It is one of the best preserved examples of an early Georgian terrace left in the country and home to the art duo, Gilbert and George.
The Ten Bells Pub, on the corner of Fournier Street and Commercial Road was built around the 1750s. Originally called the Eight Bells Alehouse, it was renamed after the nearby Christ Church Spitalfields had a new set of ten church bells installed in 1788.
The pub is famous for it's associations with the Jack the Ripper murders of Annie Chapman and Mary Jane Kelly in 1888, infact it was briefly renamed The Jack the Ripper between 1976 and 1988 before reverting back to The Ten Bells.
