As most other days on this trail the day started with an ascend - through the rainforest like forest up to the moor and the big glen which one follows for about 10 km. Since the entire walk today was very exposed, I chose to start early to walk “ahead of the sun” and was rewarded with a beautiful morning light and also some kilometres in a rather magical fog.
It was indeed a beautiful and almost serene walk and not as crowded as the past two days. eventually, even if you revolt against it, it is inevitable that the trail leads you down into the forest again. The views over Ben and Glen Nevis are beautiful but the end of the trail unfortunately underwhelming. A big, newly prepared forestry road for most of the descend. Then I chose the high route which led me up on the Cow Hill and offered great views of Great Glen and Fort William. It feels out of place to walk with a big backpack along the high street - but no one blinks and eye. And as quiet and unspectacular as I started in Milngavie, I ended in Fort William. Once again with the compulsory photo ;-)
