Nice rest day. Started with a 7km run around the lake then onto the rec centre. Pool is seperate sadly but happy to pay $6.50 for hot shower and use of gym. There's a sauna here too but I don't get it working until I go again next day, which makes the $6.50 even more value for money.
Watch first World Cup game on phone - England Vs Ghana in a dull goal-less draw sitting on bench beside baseball pitch while my laundry drys. End up camping in same lake side spot, which I'll likely do when I return to Watson lake, as I have to, on my way headed back south through British Columbia in a month or so time.
When I do leave Watson Lake it's not until the afternoon. Make use of the centre again and pick up some groceries to last me to Whitehorse in 4 days.
The ride west on the Alaska Highway is relatively monotonous, with a fair amount of RV and truck traffic. There's a wide shoulder, but it's not particularly interesting cycling. Bugs are out in the sun - worst of all the large horse fly that bites .
Have a rough idea of where to camp, having looking at map before leaving, but end up following an old forest track down to river to what is a great spot. No vehicle could come this way as the track crosses several fallen trees. River is loud but clear and beautiful. Plenty of wood around and after deeting up and lightening the fire the bugs are manageable. Great first Yukon camp .
