Cold night and morning - thermometer on bike computer reads 1°C. But it's clear and the sun is out. Breakfast and ride 10km into Dease Lake, where the service station doubles up as cafe and supermarket and has WiFi. Spend several hours here - charge powerbank and buy eggs, meat, cheese bread and even 1 litre of white gas which I'm surprised they sell. Decide to call it a short day when one of the locals suggest camping at the far end of the lake at a rec site. It's 40km and I reach there late afternoon. Very scenic, although best spot is taken by someone else (couple with young kids). Surprisingly they pack up and leave so I shift my tent right beside the lake shore. Not really much wood around and can't be bothered to collect for a fire. Another camper nearby walks over and asks if I want to take his kayak out on the lake - very kind. Do so for 20 minutes. Fortunately not too many bugs here either which is a welcome surprise.
