Final day of the Tuscany Trail and today was a blast. All went very well and already finished the last stage around 13.00, even though the base camp situation at casino di terra was something else altogether. The porta potty was out of order, the available space was very limited and with so many ppl camping there, someone thought it was a good idea to deliver pallets of flowers (?) at 03.00 at night with a massive truck 😆. That on top of the usual snoring, barking dogs and some weirdass bird making crazy noises all night.
After breakfast with 2 Canadian guys I met at yesterday's camping site, we made of for Querceto, somewhere midway of a long 7km climb. Except for the first kms, most of the climb was in a Forrested area. Not so nice for pictures, but a welcome change to for once climb in the shade, instead of fully exposed in the blistering sun like almost all other ascends.
Idea was to have lunch in Suvereto, but there wasnt too much going on in terms of options there, with it still being only like 11.00. With only ~15km to the finish area, I decided to push on for an early finish.
Because on day 3 i decided to skip the chianti detour, i finished a day early now. Back then the prospect of a restday after 8 days in the saddle sounded very tempting. Now it feels a bit strange to have no ride tomorrow - but skipping the Chianti detour was still the right call...a good reason to come back and complete that another time in the future 😅
