This hike is considered difficult for several reasons. First of all, access permission is required to cross the two private estates, El Alcachofar and Cochino. In addition, the route is very rarely visited, which means that many of the old paths and tracks have almost disappeared. Dense heath and thick vegetation often block the way, making progress slow and sometimes complicated. Another challenge is that several sections that were once open are now fenced off with wire barriers, and gates that previously could be opened freely are now secured with padlocks.

Despite these difficulties, the route is exceptionally beautiful and rewarding, especially because of the spectacular natural scenery around the Angostura del Salado and the Cascada de la Crica.

The Angostura del Salado is one of the highlights of the hike. Here, the river cuts through a narrow rocky gorge, creating a dramatic and secluded atmosphere. Crystal-clear water flows between steep rock walls into a deep natural pool surrounded by vegetation and polished stone formations. The small waterfall at the entrance of the gorge adds to the beauty of the place, and the pool beneath it forms an idyllic spot that feels wild and untouched.

Another major attraction is the Cascada de la Crica. This waterfall descends elegantly over layered rock into a quiet basin hidden within dense greenery. Depending on the season and recent rainfall, the waterfall can vary from a gentle stream to a more powerful cascade. The remote setting, combined with the sound of falling water and the surrounding forest, gives the place a very peaceful and almost magical atmosphere.

Overall, this is not an easy or straightforward hike. It requires route-finding skills, patience, and sometimes the ability to deal with overgrown terrain and restricted access. However, for experienced hikers looking for solitude and spectacular river landscapes, the combination of the Angostura del Salado and the Cascada de la Crica makes the effort worthwhile.
